Me (during our class read aloud): “So let’s think about what the author said about Ben and Jamie looking at each other and feeling a connection. Can you feel a connection to someone you aren’t related to?”

(Calling out) “Mmmm hmmm you sure can! You can have an emotional connection!”

And then I had to remind my substitute paraprofessional for the third time today that when I ask these questions to the group, I am addressing the children only. 

She sure is excited to be here, though. So that’s nice.
