Sassy Pedicurist: Wrong.
Sassy Pedicurist: “You get eyebrow wax today?”
Me: “No. I don’t think I need one.”
Sassy: “Mmm hmmm. You wrong.”
Finding One
Kid: “I wish I had a baby brother.”
Me: “Have you told your parents that?”
Kid: “Yeah. They said if I really want one, I better stop sleeping in their bed so they can have time to go find one.”
Kids

Compliments
Decided to wear my hair down and put on a nice dress…
Student: “Miss Emily! You look like a princess today!
Me: “Not EVERY day?!
Student: “Let’s just focus on today.”
Upper East Side
Kid: “My mom says if I do well on the state test, she’ll get me a new iPad”
Me: “Nice. Can she get me one, too?”
Kid: “You need a new one?”
Me: “Not a NEW one. Just one in general. I’ve never had one.”
Kid: (prolonged, dumbfounded stare)
Me: “Yes?”
Kid: “Are you…(whispering)…poor?”

Upper East Side Snacks
Me: “Do you know what a ritz cracker is?”
Student: “A cracker from the Ritz Hotel?”
Things I Notice on the Subway
Have you ever seen someone on the subway who’s so beautiful, it takes your breath away?
Me either. Those people take cabs.
Let’s Try That Again
Me: “Who wants to share something interesting?”
Student: “It’s my cousin’s birthday!”
Me: “Who wants to define the word interesting?”
